PRELIM; or PRELIM Pnum; or PRELIM
WRITE; or PRELIM LAMBDA val1 SIGMA val2;, where num is
any integer, chosen so that your output will be sorted in the way you desire
when PRELIM WRITE is executed, val1 is the value of the LAMBDA parameter,
and val2 is the value of the SIGMA parameter. Both val1 and val2 must be between zero and one, exclusively. Note that if LAMBDA is very
close to one (e.g., 0.99999999), and SIGMA is close to zero (e.g., 0.0000001),
the analysis will produce results based on the ``uniform partisan swing''
assumption; all standard errors will be zero. This is obviously unrealistic
for all known electoral systems and should be avoided.The old version of
this command, PRELIM SAVE num;, can substitute for PRELIM Pnum;,
but it does not have some features that will be useful in PRELIM AUTOMATE;
